Six Degrees of UC Davis
Kevin Bacon is convinced that every donor can find something to connect with at UC Davis – so much so that he’s helping UC Davis achieve its goal to engage 100,000 unique donors during The Campaign for UC Davis to raise $1 billion.
“[Donors] are going to find places where UC Davis is working on things that really touch on their interests, their passions, their concerns.”
Bacon is now retired from a career as a management consultant and he credits his UC Davis education and a few great choices for his success.
“Lots of people sacrificed to create the UC education I received,” Bacon said, “Giving something back now is helping make a great education available to another generation.”
Kevin Bacon is highly connected to his alma mater. He currently serves on the UC Davis Foundation Board and was the Chair of the Foundation when the university launched The Campaign for UC Davis. He is also an active member of the Campaign Cabinet and the College of Letters and Science Dean’s Advisory Council. Bacon is certain his time is well spent giving back to UC Davis and encouraging others to do the same, in large part because he believes that the best way to pay back the previous generation is to pay forward for the successes of the next one.
During the campaign, Bacon and his wife Kim have made generous contributions to the Graduate School of Management building fund; the College of Letters and Science graduate student fellowships, as well as the UC Davis Foundation Matching Fund for Student Support.
“We spend our money on things that become obsolete,” Bacon said. “A gift to UC Davis creates a practical legacy that can keep adding value for years to come.”
These ONE hundred stories represent the people who transformed UC Davis through their generous support of our first comprehensive fundraising campaign, which ended May 31, 2013. Together, these stories are the ONE story of The Campaign for UC Davis.
