Foundation and Corporate Giving
Shelley Birdsong-Maddex joined UC Davis in 2012. A nationally recognized and sought after fundraising executive specializing in organizational philanthropy and strategy development, Ms. Birdsong-Maddex is responsible for leading a team that maximizing partnerships and collaborations among members of the UC Davis community and external organizations. Prior to joining UC Davis, she worked in similar capacities at The Pennsylvania State University and Carnegie Mellon University. Ms. Birdsong-Maddex received an M.A. in History from West Virginia University and a B.A. in History with a minor in International Relations from Virginia Commonwealth University.
Director of Foundation Giving
Jenny Bickford started in the Office of Foundation and Corporate Giving at UC Davis in 2012. Bickford works with colleagues across the university to increase the level of foundation support to UC Davis. With prior appointments at Arizona State and Penn State Universities, Bickford has been working in Foundation Relations since 2000. Bickford has significant experience working with faculty and staff to develop projects, interacting with national and regional foundations, and writing letters of inquiry and proposals. She has a bachelor’s degree in English from ASU.
Director, Foundation Giving
Traci Galbaugh started at UC Davis in 2015. Galbaugh focuses on the basic and biomedical sciences, working with faculty to identify and pursue funding opportunities from non-governmental entities as well as building relationships with these foundations. She previously worked at Northwestern University (NU) for 10 years where she originally started as post-doctoral fellow in the Lurie Cancer Center. After transitioning away from the bench, she spent three years as the associate director for an interdisciplinary graduate program in the biological sciences at NU. Her last position at NU was as senior associate director of foundation relations. Galbaugh has a Ph.D. from Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) in molecular pathology.
Tony Hazarian joined UC Davis in 2012 and works closely with faculty, physicians and administrators to build philanthropic and business relationships with key local, regional national/international corporations and foundations. Prior to joining UC Davis, he enjoyed a career in media as a reporter, editor, marketing director, and publisher for several West Coast newspaper groups. Hazarian received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon, and has been an active nonprofit board member in youth development, arts, and economic development organizations for more than 20 years.
Lauren White joined the Office of Foundation and Corporate Giving in 2015. White serves both UC Davis' Academic and Health campuses as the pipeline builder for corporate and foundation funders. She also assists faculty with philanthropic grants and proposals. Lauren created the first Sponsorship Toolkit for UC Davis, which has proven to be a key campus resource for philanthropic sponsorship policy, procedures and best practices. Prior to joining UC Davis, Lauren worked in Foundation and Corporate giving for the Sacramento chapter of the American Diabetes Association and in Donor Relations for UC San Diego. White received her BA in communications from UC San Diego prior to going on to obtain her MBA from Point Loma Nazarene University.
