Many students attending UC Davis have little or no assistance from their families, and may not have any funding source to fall back on in a time of need. We Are Aggie Pride - Student Helping Students Fund was conceived to keep students on track for academic success providing emergency funding to students to cover food, rent and other essential costs not covered by other programs.
Established in 2011, the all-volunteer organization run by a board of student directors and volunteer staff advisors has raised over $100,000 in funds and already helped more than 110 students stay in school through financial emergencies that range from needing tuition, to buying groceries and paying rent. Awardees go through a strict financial aid screening process to determine whether or not they have other options available to them before they are given support from WAAP’s emergency fund.
By collaborating with the UC Davis Bookstore, WAAP has helped an additional 637 students purchase their books and cap and gown materials for graduation.
Thanks to Our Donors
We Are Aggie Pride is grateful to have received support from students, alumni, the community and UC Davis faculty and staff. Many thanks to all of you for your support for our program, and for supporting students in need.
One of the many benefits of giving to We Are Aggie Pride is the opportunity to receive a We Are Aggie Pride t-shirt and enrollment in our T-perks program, which gives you a 10% discount at select local businesses when you wear your shirt. T-shirts can be picked up with a t-shirt voucher at our Donor Appreciation Day events, or at the Alumni Center.
