A child’s face illuminated as the sound of a classical symphony fills her ears; a honey bee buzzing throughout a garden of flowers; a farmer learning sustainable water management strategies; a college student uses his smart phone to turn off the lights in his room that resides in one of the most sustainable communities on the planet.

All these seemingly disjointed objects are inextricably connected. They are all forward-thinking UC Davis programs that have received support from Wells Fargo during The Campaign for UC Davis.

The banking and finance company has been an ardent supporter of programs at the Robert and Margrit Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts, sponsoring productions and community outreach programs, including matinee performances and lecture demonstrations for groups in the area.

They have also invested in the future of sustainable agriculture by giving $100,000 to UC Davis Russell Ranch to fund research on innovations in agricultural water management and outreach education to local farmers.

And during the university’s first comprehensive campaign, Wells Fargo provided support to the Haägen-Dazs Honey Bee Haven, which provides a year-round nectar and pollen supply to bees; the UC Davis Energy Efficiency Center to accelerate the development and commercialization of energy efficient technologies and train future leaders in energy efficiency; and various colleges and programs at UC Davis, including the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and the Graduate School of Management.

“With more than 250 UC Davis alumni as Wells Fargo team members, our commitment to community investment goes beyond philanthropy to include team member giving, volunteerism, board membership, and supporting our next generation’s workforce,” said Natasha Mata, market president for Wells Fargo Bank. “UC Davis and Wells Fargo have a common commitment to environmental, economic and social sustainability and we are proud to help strengthen our communities with such an outstanding partner.”
