It’s time to celebrate the total impact of our second comprehensive fundraising campaign, Expect Greater: From UC Davis, for the World. For eight years, we have partnered with donors to prepare tomorrow’s leaders, reimagine medicine, protect our planet’s future, and advance innovation and creativity.
Thanks to supporters like you, we blew past our $2-billion goal, exceeding it by over $255 million!
This success marks a historic milestone for UC Davis. Throughout some of the toughest years in memory—including a global pandemic, economic challenges and social turmoil—more than 133,000 of you partnered with us to build a better world. More than half of you gave your first-ever gift to the university, and more than 5,000 of you gave every year of the campaign. We hope you explore more impressive campaign results like this on page 36.
We also invite you to read ahead for the many ways generosity matters. Every gift and every donor make a tremendous difference—from 11-year-old Matthew Gray, who gave his entire allowance to the Bodega Marine Laboratory for the sake of ocean health, to philanthropist Maria Manetti Shrem, whose $20+ million gift is launching a campus arts renaissance.
Today we have greater support for our diverse community, greater buildings to serve our work, greater breakthroughs in research and greater solutions for today’s most urgent challenges. And although the Expect Greater campaign has ended, a new chapter in education, research and public service is just beginning.
