Dear UC Davis Supporters:
On behalf of the UC Davis Foundation Board of Trustees, thank you for all you do for UC Davis. Your support has allowed us to continue to grow our teaching, research and service mission while making cutting-edge discoveries that address many of society’s most pressing challenges. My personal passion as an alumnus is to allow students to have the same life changing experiences that I enjoyed here at UC Davis as an undergraduate and graduate student, almost 50 years ago. My communications with students and recent alumni confirms that their experiences at UC Davis, while somewhat different than mine, continue to be profoundly impactful and rewarding experiences. For many, including those who are the first in their families to obtain a university degree, private support has made a huge difference.
I am incredibly honored to lead the Board of Trustees at this pivotal time in university history. The board is made up of a distinguished group of volunteers who, like you, make it possible to fulfill the university’s vision and make the world a better place. Prior to serving as Chair, I served on the Foundation Board of Trustees for more than 10 years. I have also been an active member of the UC Davis College of Engineering’s Dean Executive Committee, the advisory board for Athletics, past Chair of the Davis Chancellor’s Club, past chair of the Cal Aggie Engineering Alumni Association Board, a member of the Cal Aggie Alumni Association board and an Aggie Advocate. As my service continues, it is my pride in how UC Davis fulfills its commitment to students, faculty and staff that drives me and my wife Marie to be deeply involved with the university and in this community.
Philanthropic support makes so much possible at UC Davis. Just look at the remarkable potential of our Big Ideas, which are forward-thinking, interdisciplinary programs and projects that will build upon the strengths of UC Davis to lead discoveries in sustainability, food, water, human and animal health, global education and more. These Big Ideas will become a reality through philanthropic support from our many friends. Philanthropy has also expanded access to education, despite rising costs, increased faculty support to help recruit and retain the best and brightest and raised the university’s reputation by investing in Athletics, the arts and other programs that make us more visible on a global scale.
I encourage you to explore this website to learn how you can pursue your passions by supporting UC Davis. The university and our students need your help.
